When using Microsoft Office Infopath 2010 per an an InfoPath file, and while in PREVIEW mode, deleting a secion will also delete the backend XML.
But hosting the same Infomath file using COM (a WINFORMS application) , that XML does not delete but instead, hangs around as an empty. "invisible" snippet of XML, which later causes "invisible" validation errors.
