restricting the visilbility of certian fields

    Hi,

I have created an infopath and published it on a sharepoint, but i am not able to create a workflow. The workflow should be like this.

i want the approval field to be visible only to the approver so that After the user submits his request on the sharepoint and the approver comes back to the sharepoint, clicks on the form and he should be able to view the Approval field so that he can approve it or reject it,after he does that the updated form should get saved on the sharepoint and an email should go out to the user on the status of his request.

I tried a few ways but that did not work,

    Thanks

You have a few options on how to create a workflow. 1) Out of box workflows - there is an approval one that might be worth taking a quick look at.  2) SharePoint designer - probably what you want and there are a bunch of tutorials on the net how to start making a workflow in SPD. 3) InfoPath - you can actually create workflows within InfoPath using a combination of rules and user roles.  There are also a bunch of tutorials online that describe how this works.

Hopefully this will get you pointed in the right direction.
