    Read only views and attachments

Am I correct that if a View is set to read only, then any attachment cannot be opened?

I would like an end user to be able to read (open) the attachment but not delete it or replace it.

    Thank you for your Help.

you cannot open the attachment if the view is set to readonly.

if you wnat and enduser to be able to only read(open) the attachment.

right click on the file attachment field and uncheck Allow the users to browse, delete and replace files.

But then I have to set all the other fields on the form to read only, correct?

Re: Read only views and attachments

if you set the view to readonly, you cant open the attached files, now if you want the user to be able to view files, it cant be a readonly view, so you will have to go in and change settings of all the controls.

A suggestion would be to have a button on the readonly view that will switch to a different that will have this file attachment control. This would be the easiest to implement, but isnt a good option from usability perspective

in a SharePoint list  in the properties of the attachment there is no option to uncheck Allow the users to browse, delete and replace files, what to do in this case?
