I'm having an issue with a web service that I hope you can help me understand a bit better. Here's my setup:
InfoPath 2010 browser-enabled form (fully-trusted) running on SharePoint 2010, and a
C# web service hosted on our SharePoint server.
The process we have set up is that when a form is submitted it goes to two places; the SharePoint library and a web service. The web service generates a PDF using some of the submitted form information and uploads it to another document library.
On my development computer at work, which is connected to our network, everything works fine. I logged into the SharePoint portal using my home computer, which is obviously not on our company's network, and the PDF never appeared. However, the form submitted without error.
The URL to the web service is something like "http://OurServerName:5555/Something/Something/Service1.asmx". When connected to our network I can browse to the URL and see the service fine. At home I cannot, which I assumed.
This leads me to believe that that's why the PDF didn't appear while testing at home. Could anyone help me to understand this? And if I am understanding this correctly, how can I make this web service available outside of our network? Thanks so much in advance.
