Insert command works in the web browser but not in IP client?

    Hi,

I have inherited a form that has a qrules insert command that only works when the form is rendered in the web browser. As soon as I configure the library to open the form in the IP client, I receive the error "Failed to insert the child node." in the QdabraRules Secondary Connection.

I have attached a simplifed version of the form with three data entry fields (material price, avg annual volume and reason for change) that should transfer as a new row to the repeating table on the Audit Trail view when the Test Audit Trail button is clicked, but do not in the case of the IP client.

I greatly appreciate any assistance offered on this as I have exhausted my knowledge on this topic. Thanks!

    Environment: SharePoint 2007 SP3, InfoPath 2007, Windows 7 client, Qdabra qRules 3.3

    Hi Don,

I'm sorry you've encountered issues. I downloaded your form and "turned off" all the data connections (since they would fail outside of your environment anyway). Then I tried the button that runs the Insert command, and it worked (in Preview mode). I didn't try in the browser, but from your message you've seen this working in the browser.

I'm attaching that modified form. I wonder if this form will work for you or not...

    Ernesto,

Thanks for the quick reply. How odd this is that I take the form in your reply, preview it locally and I still receive the error (with or without data in the entry fields) when I click the test button.

Can you think of anything environmental that could be a problem?

I am using InfoPath 2007 (12.0.6606.100) SP3 MSO (12.0.6607.100) and so I think my software is new enough, but if not then I can address that issue.

Should I try re-injecting the form? Do you think it matters that I also have InfoPath 2010 (designer and filler) installed on my computer, though I have used neither on this form?

I guess before reinjecting or updating the machine, I would check whether the form works on another machine. So, if you have access to another machine with InfoPath, could you try it out there? Maybe this will help confirm that it is a machine issue.

    Ernesto,

    Just FYI...

When I preview the form in IP 2010 the insert command works. I guess by process of elimination, there must be something wrong with my IP 2007 client.

Thanks for the assist, I'll follow-up with my internal support folks to get a re-install or repair install of the IP 2007 client.

Sounds like a good plan, to repair InfoPath. Let us know if that doesn't solve the issue.
