Template part rule - Data connection

Hey i'm new to this forum and to InfoPath. I'm searching fore a while now on a solution for my problem.

I have a template part and on that template part i want to make some rules.
The rules will decide to show or hide the template part depending on a value that is on the form i'm going to use the template part on. Now the problem is that the value that is on the form i'm going to use i'm only getting it when i submit the form and re-open it again.

I basically just want to show are hide some template part when i change a value on my form. But i don't want to set the rules on the form, the person i'm making it fore will just add a template part, change a value of the template part and it will show or hide depending of the value on the form (dropdownbox).
I made a data connection on my template part and selected the include data for the active form only and choose retrieve information when form is opened. But i only retrieve the information when i submit the form and open it again.

I hope i'm making myself clear.

    Thanks

    Hi-

Template parts often require configuration on the form once injected. Sounds like yours will need some as well, since you can't have a rule that refers to a field that is in the form (and not in the template part). After the template part is injected, the user will at the minimum need to repoint the rule so that it uses the node in his form.

    Sorry, I can't think of a workaround.

    Thank you for the response.

I find it strange that it works when i save the form and re-open it again. Its that because the data-connection looks at the sharepoint library and not the form itself ?

Also when i have saved the form, open it and change the value on the form --> safe and then press the refresh button it works also.
Some way to do this automatically ?

Howe come when i open a new form and submit it (without closing) the data isn't really saved ?
Because when i then push the save button they ask me to give a name, but i already give the form a name with the submit button.(and its also in the library)

Now when i open the form again and then change some values and push save, it doens't ask fore a name.
Is there a way when you open a new form the form is submitted and saved (so when you push the save button it doens't ask fore a name) without closing the form? thanks

     Hi-

Save and submit are different operations.

Save asks the user to provide a name, and subsequent saves are done under that same filename.

Submit uses the form's submit data connection, or rules, or code, to submit the form.

So the question you'll ask yourself, as a designer, is whether you want users to click Save and then save the xml file with any name of their choosing, or whether you want to use a submit operation which controls the operation more carefully.
