Good morning all,
I have a set of seven 2007 filler forms published by farm administrator as content types which I have enabled on my site and added to my form library. The site is PKI-protected, requiring a certificate to authenticate. Everything works well with the exception of a sporadic issue which is driving me mad: occasionally InfoPath will launch properly, but not prompt the user to select a certificate. The "connecting to server" progress bar will flash by and then the user will receive, "InfoPath cannot create a new, blank form" or "InfoPath cannot open the form..." when creating a new form or opening an existing form respectively.
I have found two workarounds to clear this issue - sometimes only one works, sometimes the other, sometimes it requires both actions: 1) within Internet Explorer, Tools > Internet Options > Content Tab > Clear SSL State, and 2) have the user open any _other_ Office document on the site (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.). Rebooting, clearing cookies/history/etc. does not clear this issue, nor does clearing InfoPath's cache via command-line.
Now that's simple enough as a workaround, however, multiply this by 200+ users who are not tech-savvy and do not seem to retain these steps or the fact that they are posted as an announcement on the same site and you can begin to visualize the magnitude of this issue.
As an additional data point, the site is accessed using a certificate other than the one used to log into the workstation.
I (and my remaining hair) sincerely appreciate any insights anyone may have on this one.
Thanks so much!
