Very simple question - need some guidance

How do I set Dropdown values using "Set a field's value"? Is there a certain format I need to follow? On form load. I need to add "Red, Blue, Yellow and Green" in a dropdown control. Please suggest.

You can't set the dropdown options using a rule, since "Set a field's value" just sets the value of the xml node. The way to set the dropdown options is by right clicking on the dropdown and selecting Properties.

@Ernest: The requirements is to populate drop down dynamically based on some values. Anyway, thanks for your input. At least I know set value field is not an option.

     Thanks Again.

Are the values going to be changing often?

I've seen scenarios where you can have one of (for example) 4 sets of options. That means the dropdown will show either:

    a, b, c, d

    1, 2, 3, 4

    e, f, g, h

    5, 6, 7, 8

What you do in that case is have four dropdowns, all bound to the same node in the schema, and conditionally hide 3 dropdowns so that only one of them shows.

    Perhaps this works for you?

Another option would be to use an XML file - then you could filter the drop down based on your other field values - I don't know if you are desiging a browser form, but if so, filters aren't available in IPFS 2007, so in that case you'd need to have separate drop downs as suggested by Ernesto.
