InfoPath Dev

Greetings,

I have an InfoPath form that display's standard data from a SharePoint form library.  I have been asked to add a section that would show the status of a workflow from that SP form library and to present an approve / deny button on the form and the user able to select their answer via the buttons.

Is there a way to update the workflow task list item from InfoPath with IP buttons?  I have looked at the workflow task list and it looks like the fields that need to be updated are Outcome=Approve and %Complete=100% and Status=Completed, but I am not sure if this will actually be the same as going to the SP 2010 approval screen and selecting approve/deny

Hi Bob,

I recommend adding buttons to your form that set fields with the same names as Outcome and PercentComplete. You may need to add those fields. When the user clicks Approve or Reject you have rules that run that set those fields and submit to SharePoint and close the form. The fields need to be promoted and available as web part connections (File->Form Options->Property Promotion). You may need to update your workflow to incorporate these fields since they will be in addition to the fields used in the workflow, but that's easy to do if the fields are promoted to the form library. With Nintex, you don't need to promote the fields - you can extract them using an xpath query, but I think promoting them is a best practice if there aren't too many.
