    Dynamic Controls

    Hello Friends,

I am new to Infopath. I have created a blank form. Now my requirement is that I want to have dynamic controls on my page  like suppose we have a table in database to which I am connected and Entries of that table are :

    Question Id  Control question
    3 Dropdownlist name ?
    5 textbox age?
    7 label  Place

Now i want to fetch these values from this table and have to dispaly the corresponding control in front of the question .

Like when I have question : Name ?

a drodownlist must appear in-front of it.

    Please help me with this.

    Thanks!

You can accompish this using a series of hide rules on each control. Create a rule on each control that says hide this control when the value of question is not equal to name.  If you're questions are dynamic based on the database, then you'll need to rely on custom code to accomplish this behavior.

I feel like that little paperclip help guy that used to pop up in Microsoft Office - "it sounds like you are designing a form which can be used to create dynamic forms" - if I'm correct, proceed with caution - it can quickly get very complicated controlling layout and catering for all the kinds of behaviours you might need. I've been there and done that - it would have been easier to just teach them how to make simple forms in Infopath designer mode.

If I'm not correct, just giggle at the paperclip reference and forget I ever said anything.
