Query Data Connection and Switch Views When Query has Finished.

    All,

I've a button which switches a view then, a rule which queries for data. (The query can take some time, hence the view switch).

How can I switch to another view when the query has finished? My query data is going into a repeating table.

    Thanks

    W

Using rules, you can only switch views on button clicks. I don't believe there's a way to switch views in the way you're describing unless custom code is used.

Why not use sections (which you can hide and show using conditions) instead of view switching?

Just to chime in - if you want to switch views on a field change, you have to use the context changed event. I like Ernesto's suggestion.

    Ernesto and Hilary.

     Thanks for the info.

I was trying to switch views so that my end users knew something was 'happening' whilst the data source was being queried. I'm currently using a section on my repeating table to only show data when a field on the table is equal to my "search field". The only problem was, it was taking a long time to return results.

I'm querying a SQL db. However since posing the question I've discovered that if I can move the db or at least a copy of the information I need 'in house' the problem is pretty obsolete and the results returned are much faster.
