Rich Textbox in InfoPath displays tags on the second save

Hi. I'm stuck on an issue with saving rich text into a SharePoint list and need help.

I am trying to use a rich text box in an InfoPath form and save it's contents to a SharePoint list in rich text format. I am using qRules SaveToSharePointList and have read all of the other threads I can find on this topic. I understand I need to update the View1.xsl file and use disable-output-escaping="yes" when displaying the contents in the SharePoint list. This works the first time I load the form. For example, if I save a bulleted list of items in the text box and submit, there will be bulleted items in the SharePoint list. However, if I save the form again, the SharePoint list displays the data with tags instead of displaying the bulleted items. Additionally, the next time I open the form, the text box displays the data with tags instead of bulleted items.

I have added an attachment that steps through my issue and includes examples of what happens in the form and SharePoint list. I hope this helps.

I really appreciate any guidance you can give me. I looked through the forums and the information I found has helped a lot but I feel really stuck now.

Hi - this is interesting. I'm going to see if I can reproduce it - it will be later today before I have chance, but I'll post back here and let you know the outcome.

Whoops - forgot to ask - what version of InfoPath and what version of SharePoint are you using? Is your form filled out in InfoPath or in the browser? Thanks!

EDIT - also, I'm confused by this step: STEP 2 – open the form again and fill it with data from saved in the SharePoint list

Wouldn't the form already have the data in it? Can you give me a bit more direction about your design? Or attach your form template?

Hi Hilary. I am using InfoPath 2010 and SharePoint Server 2007. The form is accessed from InfoPath Filler 2010. This form allows users to enter data about courses we offer. We have a field to collect a course code value from the users. If the value entered into this column already exists in our SharePoint list, the form is pre-populated with data already saved for that particular course code. If the course code entered is not found in our SharePoint list, a new record for the course is added to the SharePoint list. In my example, I am closing the form and re-opening the form between each step. I type in the course code for the specific record I want to view. The rich text box is then filled out with related data from the SharePoint list. It would make more sense to view the form template directly to get a better idea of what is happening. Can I send the template to you privately?
