How do I submit a field in an infopath form to a column in a sharepoint list, based on qualifying criterea in the form

Hi there

I am new at infopath and sharepoint. I have a form that is being filled out by employees that needs to update details in a sharepoint list that is specific to that employee. I have used the "updateList" web service, but the result is that i get a new item created in the list, instead of an item being updated. My apologies for the lack of technical detail. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi!

Updating requires that your CAML contain the ID field with the ID of the item you need to update:

This means you need to get the ID for the item you wish to update, and set the Field with the ID attribute to that number. Does that make sense?
