    Length of characters in textbox

    Hi,

I want to know is there any way to get the length of characters which are entered in textbox other than string.length. I want to use alternate way of string.length as there are some browser rendering problems if i use this. Please suggest me.

Could you elaborate on what browser rendering problems you are experiencing?  The XPath function string-length() would be the ideal way to check a string's length.

Re: Length of characters in textbox

    My Scenario is:

I have Phone number validation for textbox like string-length(translate(., "()-X ", "")) > 15 and also two checkboxes which has rules for validating mutual exclusive(If one checkbox is selected the other one should disable). and when i published this form to sharepoint server, and enter some data in the phone textbox and soon after if  i click the checkbox the rules(Mutual exclusive rules) applied to checkbox are not working. and from second time onwards its working only for the first time the check box rules are not firing. Its happening only for textbox which has string-length function.

If you need more details please let me know.

Is there any way to do Phone validation without using string-length. My requirement is i have to do phone validation and format the value to (233) 333-3433 X 4567 which was entered in textbox.

Is there some relationship between the textbox and the checkboxes?  I think it's highly unlikely that a validation rule on a textbox would affect some completely separate checkboxes.

There is no relationship between those two. But i wonder is this bug with infopath software?

I think it's unlikely that this is a bug in the software.  Would you be able to attach a simple form that reproduces this issue?

Yeah Jimmy, Please find the attachment for a simple infopath form which has textbox and two checkboxes. Once you enter some data in the textbox and click on checkbox, checkbox rules are not firing for first time.

Please advise me if you get to know some thing on this. Or do you think we have any work around for this?
