Hi. Here's what I need to have happen on a form I'm working on:
Person A will open view 1 of a form. I've added a people picker control so that Person A will select Person B (or C, or D, etc). When Person A submits the form, whoever was selected in the people picker control (B, C or D, etc) should get an email notifying them to open the form and complete view 2 of the form.. and so on.
When I created the people picker control, it created a group rather than a field. When publishing the form, I can't add that group into the list of columns to be added to the form library therefore can't use the lookup in the SP Designer workflow to find the email address (or user). Even if I create a new field in InfoPath design mode and change the binding of the control to use that field, I can indeed publish it to create the new column in the SharePoint form library, but nothing ever gets populated in the column. Even before all that, if I choose a name through the people picker control while filling out the form, for some reason nothing shows up.. it's just blank.
So instead of people picker I tried to create a drop down list box with a list of users with an email address as their value.. so that field / column now has an email address as a value in SharePoint and I can add it to the workflow.. I thought I was there.. but an email never went out when I submitted the form (It does go out if I add an individual's email).
Some other info: The flow of emails from view 1 to the next is handled by a SharePoint Designer workflow. As of now, I can only enter an individuals' email and not the person that Person A chooses. Also, the form needs to be digitally signed. Not sure if that makes any difference here. InfoPath and SharePoint are 2010.
Can somebody help me identify what I need to do please? Thanks.
