InfoPath 2010 hide control in form when viewing an item

    Hello,

I am running SharePoint 2010 and use InfoPath 2010 to customize the forms for list and libraries.

I have a list which has a column\field with lots of text in it; 20 - 30 lines. I would like to hide this field when the user views an item and provide a link or button which when clicked displays or expands the field.
This needs to happen in the form the user sees when displaying the item - not in the form when editing the item. Unfortunately so far I was only able to build such solutions which require to user to click the 'Edit' button in the ribbon first.

I am simply looking for a solution for this issue. I tried a button or checkbox and the rule. Which works but only if I click on 'Edit' first. I also created a second view.. one where the field is displayed and in the other it is not.....again I have to click on the 'Edit' button in the ribbon first before I am able to see the 'View' menu. I checked if it is possible to enable the 'View' menu in the ribbon when displaying an item but so far I have been without luck.

Does anybody has any idea how to address this issue?

    Thank you
    Mc2102
