SharePoint forms InfoPath vs ASPX pages (SP2010 & InfoPath 2010)

    Hi,

Just to be clear from the getgo, I'm talking about the user forms in SharePoint lists and libraries (EditForm.aspx, DispForm.aspx).

This is probably a very stupid question but I would like to know some possible options. My company wants a very user friendly and robust editting interface when modifying or creating sharepoint list information, basically they want nice graphics. I'm rather new with SharePoint 2010 myself, so I stumbled on the option of actually using InfoPath 2010 to create user forms for editting and creating data.

Now, I was wondering, does this form actually get converted into ASPX after creation? Or is it plain old SP Forms Services doing all the work. Also, if services is doing the work, is it possible to actually save the form (on hard drive) and are you able to open it with the InfoPath client?

What about performance issues? We do not expect a huge number of people using this at once, but is it a hefty load for the server?
