    Add select from Multi Selection Box to ListItem

    I am very new to this forum.  I am working on a sharepoint form in Infopath.  I want to populate a multiselection list box from a sharepoint list.  Once the user makes a selection, I want the selection to populate a repeating list.  When the user unchecks the list, I want the list updated.

     Lastly, I want a textbox that can filter the selection box, so that as a user types the multi selection box is filtered.

    Any help would be greatful.

    Hi:

    When the user selects an item in the multiselect, is a new item supposed to be added to your repeating table? I'm afraid you are going to have to use qRules for that, or write custom code -- it isn't something InfoPath does out of the box.

    As to a text box that filters the multiselect -- you can add a filter to the Entries group for your multiselect. For example, if your text box was bound to a field named "filter", your filter on the Entries group would be where the entry field you want to filter on is equal to the filter field in your main data source. You could include a second filter -- use "or" instead of "and" and have that filter be if the filter field is blank -- that way all entries show unless the user types something in the text box to filter on.

    This won't work "as the user types" but after the user has entered a value. I don't believe there is any non-code solution that will filter as a user types (and I'm not 100% certain there would be a code solution).

    Yes, when a user makes a selection from the multiselect it should populate some sort of div.  That is the most pressing part of my problem.  I tried to use an example you posted previously where different fruits were listed in the multiselect and when selected a textbox was populated with the checked fruit.  Once the fruit was unchecked the information was removed from the textbox.  I wanted to mimic this behavior, but instead populating a div with a scrollbar.  As for the other items mentioned, I can do without help on those if they seem undoable.

    I'm a little confused when you say "it should populate some sort of div" -- what control are you referring to?

    I mean a text box where each mult selection choice appears on a new line or inside a div.  I thought DIVs may be available in infopath, but I see now that it doesn't appear to be.  So basically, I want the checked multi selection to appear in a multi line box.

    I'm trying to add the display name of a listbox populated from sharepoint to a textbox and add a hard return after each name.

    This is the information stored in the list box to populate it with the information from the sharepoint list:

    /dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:SharePointListItem_RW

    This is the current statement I'm using, but it's showing the id instead of the display name:

    eval(eval(Value[. != ""], 'concat("\r\n", .)'), "..")

    If your multiselect uses a different value for the Id and the Display, you'll need to get the display value from the secondary data source that provides your multiselect options. You may want to see if it would be possible to use the display value for the Id as well in this case.

    Do you have any examples or could you post a code snippet?  I am very new to infopath and am lost.

    Re: Add select from Multi Selection Box to ListItem

    This is what I have so far.  However, it keeps repeating the value of the first value checked in the text box, instead of updating the textbox with all values checked in the multiselect box.  Any suggestions?

    substring(eval(eval(Value[. != ""], 'concat(";", xdXDocument:GetDOM("CDBContacts")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:SharePointListItem_RW/d:Full_x0020_Name[current()/../my:Attendees/Value = ../d:ID])'), ".."), 1)
