Repeating table with data from SharePoint list.

Apologies if this has been covered before, but I couldn’t find a solution anywhere.

    I am using InfoPath 2010 and SharePoint2010
What I want to do, in a web form (i.e. no code) is have the name of a list of items, pulled from a SharePoint List, displayed in a combo box. This list also contains other information (such as a numerical value (% complete) etc.).
From this combo box I want to populate a row in a repeating table with some form of add button.
Up to this point, I have succeeded. However if I try and add a second row to the repeating table, the first row takes the new data as well. I believe this is because the text fields in each row of the table have the same name…
Is there any way to populate a repeating table in this way? I have tried many things such as incorporating it in repeated sections etc. but to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or better still, the solution?

    Thanks,
    Louis

    Hi Louis,

As long as you have the row already created you can definitely use a button to populate but it will require setting a value with an index and that isn't supported in the browser. So, we created a command in our qRules library of common commands called SetValue which lets you do this and even has cool filtering capabilities. qRules is a common library of functions, so it is code, but it can easily be deployed to a SharePoint 2010 browser form if the site is configured to allow sandbox. If not, you can still do it as an admin deployed form.

    Best of luck!

    Hi,

In my experience, if the button that you use to populate the row is in the repeating table/section, it should work.

    1.  Put the ComboBox outside the repeating table/section
    2. Add a repeating section
    3. Add the field you want to populate and the button that the user will click
    4. Set rule one on the button to set the fields value in the repeating table (And filter it so that (value from data source) = (value from the combo box)
    5. Set rule two on the button to clear the contents of the combo box
