    Concat Command

Not sure if this is the right post area, but here goes:

I am using InfoPath 2007 and MOSS 2007.

I have a PO and a Check Request form. The Check Request pulls the vendor information from the PO, and I've got this working fine. The command I've got for pulling City, State  Zip is:  concat(@City[Client1 = @Vendor_Name], ", ", @State[Client1 = @Vendor_Name], "  ", @Zip[Client1 = @Vendor_Name]) and this works perfectly when testing on my desktop, calling the information from the server just fine.

My problem is that when I create a new Check Request in SharePoint and select the PO, the field that should contain the populated information (City, State Zip) only displays the City and the comma. If I save the form and then reopen it, the remainder of the information then gets populated. Same thing if I attempt to close the form, and a message pops up that I have not saved it, I can see in the background that the complete information is now there.

I'm not too concerned because the information IS populating, eventually. But I'd like to understand why it's not populating completely upon the rule execution.

    Thanks for any assistance.

    Hi Joanne,

That's weird that it works for the City but not the others. If you're using browser form it might have something to do with postbacks for that field - double click on the control and go to Browser and select always send info back to server. That may fix the filtering. the browser in MOSS 2007 has limited support for xpath filtering. We have several blogs on how to work around it - for example, check out David Airapetyan's blogs.

The other possibility is that your cehck Request form form is querying "On Load" and not requerying when a new PO is created. You may want to add a button to requery the sharePoint List and see if that makes it any better.

Sorry I can't be of more help without seeing your form.

    Cheers!

Aha! It's always the simple things. I had the form set to query onLoad for the list of PO's when first opening a check request so that the list of PO's would populate immediately. But apparently I had to set the control containing the concat command to re-query the list in order to populate the city/state/zip. Not sure why because everything else populated just fine without the re-query, but hey, I'm fine with it. It works now. :))

    Thanks Patrick!!!
