Connecting to a SharePoint list on a secure server HTTPS://

I have a secure sharepoint server that users connect to. When setting up the data connections in infopath, I specify the list to receive data from, am prompted for a login and upon entering valid credentials, am prompted to login again and again...I am never able to establish a connection. I have verified that the site is running and that I can browse it via the web.

I am seeing no errors in the server's events log.

The server setup:   ISA server on front end to validate users, Sharepoint 2007, Windows Server 2008.

Background: last week when I initially began designing the form, I tried connecting to the server and got an error message informing me that the server was not running sharepoint servicecs. I didn't understand so I googled the error and found out that this ment that the server was using forms authentication vs windows authentication. I was instructed to setup alternative mapping. Since I am not the server admin, I let her know of the problem. Yesterday, I again tried setting up the data connections in the form. This time I did not receive the error messages but could not establish a connection. I checked with the server admin and she has not yet had time to address this issue.

What concerns me is that the error I received a week ago is no longer being returned. I'm going to go forward as though it is still being returned and address the authentication issue. If this works, I will be :)

Has anyone delt with this issue before?
