    Conditional Formatting with Buttons

    Hi All

I am a new InfoPath 2003 User and this is my first Post - please help...

I have taught myself how to use InfoPath and designed a simple form for use by multiple users. The order form has a header with required fields and a repeating table. I have had to use a repeating table as the information is then saved to an Access database. The header has 3 drop down boxes which i wanted to ensure were selected befoew submitting and printing the form, to do this i added conditional formatting to the two buttons saying if any of the three deop down boxes is equal to 0 (the value set against the Select.... (Default) setting) the  buttons would be hidden - which worked pefectly. My issue is with this conditional formatting when i add in another reapting table (the next line of my order form) these button dissapear anyway (n.b. this does not happen without this formatting)

    Please help

    N.B. I don't do well with Code.....

Try inserting your original repeating table in a repeating section.  When you insert the new section the tables and the buttons should be there just like the first table.

    Hi BJ

Just tried that but it didn't seem to work.

    any other suggestions?

    - my first version of this form wasn't connected to a database and i was able to set the drop down box to "cannot be blank" - is there a way of doing this in a form attached to Acces in IP2003? that would also do what i need........

I think what you are saying is that you have buttons in your repeating table that are hidden when certain fields are equal to zero -- and that the default values for those fields is zero. If that is the case, then the behavior you describe would be the expected behavior -- the user adds a new row, all the fields that make up the conditional formatting equal zero, thus the buttons are hidden.

    Re: Conditional Formatting with Buttons

    thanks for your reply Hilary

I think my initial description has given the wrong idea so let me try and clarify -

I have a form which was a "header" which contains 3 drop down boxes, a check box, an option picker and a test box.

Below that i have a repeating table containing several text boxes which are linked to an Access 2003 database.

Below that - seperate to the repeating table i have a button to print the form and a button to submit (i couldn't get it to work as one button)

i need to print the forms off each time as it is used to pass an order from multiple locations to one central printer and it saves to a database in case of printer error / failure.

The "Header" contains information re who has made the request, where it's for and what time it is needed. I wanted it so the form could not be printed with out these three boxes being completed. As far as i am aware these are all seperate albeit on the same form. And when you add the new row the "header" remians completed so i am a little confused. I have also tried adding rows then filling out the "header" but that doesn't work either.

Please help me - i seem to be the only person in my whole company that has ever looked at infopath and seen it's possibilities. N.B. although i am capaigning i do not have acces to a sharepoint server  (if that makes any difference.
