    need help designing form

     Hi,

I need to design a form to keep track of questions asked at several reference desks.  Users will need to submit this form repeatedly, so I have set up some defaults.  The snag comes in "defaulting" what desk they are working at.  We have a dozen desks, with perhaps four different forms.  Originally, I thought I could create a view for each form with the default view being where they would choose what desk they are working at (each user may work at a different desk on different days or even different hours of the same day).  The thing is, I don't want them to have to choose a desk each time they need to submit the form.  I originally tried to "leave the form open" after submit, but if I submit the form multiple times, only the last submit gets entered into the list.  So, I guess the question is:  how can i let the user select a desk and have that be the default for the remainder of the session?

    Thanks!

I'm guessing you are using SharePoint List Forms in 2010. Why not do something simple like create another list for users default values. This is a really simple list that sets default value. They fill this out at the beginning of a session and this form on submit automatically navigates them to the other form for questions. The questions form has a SharePoint data connection that pulls the default value in based on user name. When the questions form submits it just navigates them back to the Questions list. Simple to implement and only requires one extra step for your users to set their session at the beginning.
