    Problem with qRules trial

    Dear InfopathDev community, I am having trouble getting my first qRules injected form to work. I am following the tutorial at

    http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/mel_balsamo/archive/2009/12/03/copy-sharepoint-list-data-to-main-data-source.aspx

    But when i get to the section on applying the copytable command, I follow the steps to configure the button to pull the data from my sharepoint list and populate the form attributes, click preview and immediately receive the following error:

     System.Security.SecurityException
    Request failed.
       at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.MsxmlNavigator.IsValidNode(MsxmlNode test)
       at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.MsxmlNavigator.MoveToFirstChild()
       at MS.Internal.Xml.XPath.XPathChildIterator.MoveNext()
       at MS.Internal.Xml.XPath.ChildrenQuery.Advance()
       at MS.Internal.Xml.XPath.FilterQuery.Advance()
       at MS.Internal.Xml.XPath.AttributeQuery.Advance()
       at MS.Internal.Xml.XPath.XPathSelectionIterator.MoveNext()
       at System.Xml.XPath.XPathNavigator.SelectSingleNode(XPathExpression expression)
       at System.Xml.XPath.XPathNavigator.SelectSingleNode(String xpath, IXmlNamespaceResolver resolver)

       at Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.qRulesMain.DoLoadingEvent(LoadingEventArgs e)
       at Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.FormCode.FormEvents_Loading(Object sender, LoadingEventArgs e)
       at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Internal.FormEventsHost.OnLoad(DocReturnEvent pEvent)
       at Microsoft.Office.Interop.InfoPath.SemiTrust._XDocumentEventSink2_SinkHelper.OnLoad(DocReturnEvent pEvent)

    In case it is helpful here is the command string:

    CopyTable /dsnamesrc=Tasks /tablesrc=/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields /rowsrc=dfs:Tasks /tabledest=/my:meetingAgenda/my:previousActionItems /rowdest=my:Tasks /empty=yes

    I do have other forms on this server that don't have code in them, but work fine. I don't even know where to begin troubleshooting this - any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

     Kevin

    Hi -- what is the trust level on your template? Do you mind attaching it to a reply so we can take a quick look at it? Under the Options tab you can attach a file.

    Hi, thanks for your quick response! The trust level is Domain. I've attached a copy of the template.

     Thanks again,

    Kevin

    Hi --

    Once I set the GetUserProfile data connection not to run on load (so I could preview the template) I was able to preview it without any errors. Were you saying you get the error when you preview the form? Or when you click the button that runs the command? From the looks of the error, I anticipate you are getting this immediately on previewing -- is that the case?

    What version of the .NET framework do you have installed? What version of InfoPath and what service pack? What happens if you set the form to full trust and preveiw?

     Thanks!

    Re: Problem with qRules trial

    Hi, and thanks again. I just set the GetUserProfile data connection to not run on load and still get the same error listed above, and also get the same error when I click the button to retrieve the list data - which seems to indicate there is something about my environment that is making InfoPath throw this error.

    I have the following versions of .NET framework installed:

    1.1

    2.0 SP2

    3.0 SP2

    3.5 SP1

    Hi, Hilary. I'm sorry I realized I didn't answer all your questions:

     The InfoPath version is 12.0.4518.1014

    If I set the form to full trust and preview I don't get any errors, but my "Retrieve Active Tasks" button doesn't work either. Updated to say that 'doesn't work' means no data is retrieved from the tasks list.

    Thanks again,

    Kevin

    Re: Problem with qRules trial

    I'm pretty sure the issue is .NET 3.5. When I search on the error message: System.Security.SecurityException Request failed at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.MsxmlNavigator.IsValidNode(MsxmlNode test)

    I get results like this, indicating that .NET 3.5 has an issue with IP code.

    As to the button not working, can you drag the Qdabra Rules error node onto your form and see if there are any messages after you run your command?

    Re: Problem with qRules trial

    Wow...too bad about the .NET 3.5 incompatibilty. An essential tool in our company requires it so we can't remove it from our client computers.

     As for the error (what a great feature, btw, that error node) I get the following:

    The table row of the source and destination must contain the same number of elements and attributes.

    My data source each contain the same number of attributes (6) in the same order, and each destination attribute's data type matches the source attribute. I'm not sure where else to look - but if running this code requires the form to be set to full trust I'm afraid that's not an option for my environment.

     EDIT: The __Complete field data type shows as 'double' in my main data source, but 'decimal' in the secondary data source. I have selected 'decimal (double)' as the data type in my main data source but i don't know if that mismatch might be causing a problem.

    Re: Problem with qRules trial

    Do all your fields in your SharePoint list have data in them? InfoPath won't include fields that don't have values, thus the mismatch in the count. For the purpose of testing, make sure none of the columns in your list are entirely blank.

    However, the .NET compatibility issue may make this point moot.

    Hello Kevin,

    That error is caused by having .NET 3.5, but I believe the remedy is to ensure the machine has the latest Office service packs (I believe this issue was fixed in SP2).  Could you make sure that is the case?

    Re: Problem with qRules trial

    Hello, all. Thanks again for your reply. I had IS reimage my computer and now with a fresh OS image I am no longer receiving an error when previewing the form. However, I'm still getting the error about the source and destination containing the same number of elements and attributes. I'm pointing to a task list and i've confirmed that there are no blank fields. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!

    Re: Problem with qRules trial

    Like I said, this issue gennerally occurs when we have any columns in our SharePoint list that are blank. You may need to try the workaround for mismatched columns posted here.
