Total of repeating table with custom row totals

Hi, I have a repeating table bound to a sharepoint list. I needed to calculate a value on each row so i added a column with and expression box and did my calculation. This works fine but I also need a total of all the expression boxes in the table in the footer. Is it possible to get a sum() of expression boxes? Or is there any other way I can get around using an expression box to do the calculation? Thanks B

There are two ways to approach this.  You can add a field to hold the calculated value for each row, set its default value formula to the formula you want, and then sum the values of that field.  Or you can combine the sum() function with the eval() function like in the attached form, which would not require you to add a new field.  The choice is yours!

Thanks Jimmy, Looks like I have to use a bit of both :) The reason for not using a field is that it gives me an error (Cannot store data correctly). I assume this is because the repeating table is bound to a list but this field is not. So when I run the form the value for the first item is calculated but the rest are not. So that's where the expression box came in and solved my row total problem. But thanks to you, I used the sum(eval()) in my table total field instead of another expression box so I can promote the value. Thanks again B

That makes sense that you couldn't add a field to a table that's bound to a list.  Anyway, I'm glad I could help!
