    Hi Ernesto,

I haven't seen this document before, but I did try something similar in a blog post that I found on the web site.  Does it need to be a fresh sub site or will it work with a site that has existing document types of the same name?

I've just created a new sub site to test this and if I use the DocumentService.asmx service then the form says that it's been successfully been submitted, but no documents appear in DAT.  If I use DocumentServiceEx.asmx then it complains that it cannot find the document type.  Don't know where to go with this now...

    Hello Ged,

What is the specific error you are receiving?  Are you opening the XSN from SharePoint, or from DBXL?  If you're opening it from SharePoint, do you have your Submit connection set up to provide a value for the documentType parameter?

    Hi Jimmy,

I have an existing form library that users have been submitting forms to, but the design is too unwieldy.  As a result, I've now split the form into four separate ones and hence now want to use these instead of the existing big form.  The problem began with users being unable to submit forms and the error message received then is the same I'm still getting.

No longer at work so cannot attached a screenshot, but error is

System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.Exception: Exception Code: I0001
Exception Message: No DocumentType found for ''.

I followed the blog posting I found and created an XML file with the same name and the XSN and the document type, but still received the error.  To be honest, the last time I tried this I didn't do that - does it have to be an XML file loaded as a resource or can I simply create a field within the form and store the name in there?  Should it be name of the file including the extension or just the name of the content type attached to the form library?

    Hi --

It doesn't have to be a separate XML -- it can be a field in the form itself. The field (whether in the main or a secondary data source) needs to contain the name of the DBXL document type (from DAT). Your DBXL Submit connection needs to have that field specified for the doctype parameter.

    Thanks Hilary,

I'll give it another try tomorrow morning and hopefully will be able to resolve the problem.

Ged, did Hilary's post help you resolve this issue?

    Thanks

    Hi Ted and Hilary,

Apologies for not posting back on this, but yes it seems to have done the trick.  The XML include didn't work for me, but I've now placed a string field within the form which stores the document type name and all seems fine.  Just need to get them to use the same columns within the form library now  :0)

Thanks as ever for your excellent support.
