Accessing SQL with infopath issue (permissions?)

Hi, I have been testing a infopath form to pull data from a SQL database. It works fine except after its been published to sharepoint. My form is not fully trusted. Also i noticed I don't get the normal Security Notice to confirm the data sources. I do get this when previewing, but i have always got this even when data connections are not required on load. So I am assuming my problem is that I am not getting asked to trust the connection so the connection fails. The SQL database and sharepoint are both on the same server. Any idea, how to solve this?

You'll need to configure BCS in the form or use a Web Service. The problem is that InfoPath Forms Services (IPFS) is running on the server in the context of the server and the user is accessing the browser in a different context. You could configure IPFS to have total access to the database but that's a security hole. You'll need to look into adding BCS to your form to pull the items through a ShP list or try a generic Web Service like Qdabra's Database Accelerator which can be configured to do this easily.

     Hi Patrick,

Sounds like the same issue I faced when I preview the form and my database data shows, when I publish and open the form, the data can't be drawn and there is no error message. I am using a Database data connection to my SQL server.

Are you recommending we use DBXL's web service always? The reason why I am using Database data connection is because I am trying to run a stored procedure using form code but first I have to have a connection to my database for that to happen.

Seem like some permissions issue is stopping me here. Can I achieve the same objectives (running a SP via Visual Basic code) using webservice calls?

    Thanks Patrick!
