InfoPath has a feature called Merge Forms that let's you import and aggregate forms in the rich client. To do so automatically behind the scenes you could use a workflow and write a bunch of code but it would be a one-off solution for that schema. To do so without code, I recommend creating a new form called "Merged Forms" which pulls data from the other forms on open via SharePoint form library or a database. You can also use tools, like Qdabra's Doc Deployer that takes an XSLT map and allows for batch merge.

Please share help links on automatically merge workflow. Without code solution, only 26 field values are promoted to sharepoint list out of 6500 fields.

    Hi Srinath,

Can you please be a little more descriptive? 26 fields values of what? 1 form? What are the 6500 fields? Is that one form or 250?

I'm going to guess and say you have 26 fields in 250 forms. Why do you need to merge these to get them into a SharePoint list? First of all, is the form template for a 2010 List Form or for a 2010 Form Library. If it's a list form, the properties should show up by default in the list as part of the SharePoint 2010 functionality. If it's a form library, you can promote the forms and if you're trying to get values to display (because you recently changed the fields but forgot to resave the forms), just open all 249 remaining and resave from InfoPath/browser.

Workflow is not going to help you get the promoted properties to display.

    Hi Srinath,

    Thanks for the clarification! :)

Merge Forms is a good solution for you. You could also use the Doc Deployer tool in the free trial download of DBXL to migrate the data in a batch process (no purchase required). You can read about the latter here: http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/document_deployer/default.aspx

Hi Patrick, Thanks for your help, can the forms be auto merge using workflow. Thanks, Srinath

If you write code you can do anything! :)  You'll need to write code to merge using SharePoint workflow.

My point is that the other methods do not require code.

    Happy trails!

    Hi Srinath,

I'm really sorry, but we don't provide sample code anymore to people for specific problems. We have too many requests and if we responded to all of them we would have no time to actually do paid work. Instead, we give general best practice and guidance to people for free. If there is a coding problem that is general, we may help debug it and offer suggestons, but we don't write code for people. Also, code is a bad practice for InfoPath.

Best practice here is to use the non-code solution. It's cheap because you don't have to maintain it and it's relatively easy to do. Could take several hours of our time. Of course, it could take you longer and you'd have to be patient and persistent. Basically, that's life, you have to solve problems yourself sometimes. If you want to hire someone on our team to help you, we'd be happy to give you a good rate, but we have to do work that pays the bills (since this forum is free and we don't make money off of advertising). Thanks for your understanding! :)
