Data Validation Error Not Stopping Submission

I thought this was an easy solution, but so far I have not been able to find anything wrong. I have fields that have data validation applied to them, and show the dashed red border  when invalid data is entered. However, even when this invalid data is entered, the form still gets submitted. Any help on this? I thought this was straightforward but for some I reason I am completely stuck. Thanks!

Are you submitting via rules? Or just a standard submit? Submitting to SharePoint? Email? Submitting via code?

What is the validation in place?

Generally, an InfoPath form WON'T submit with validation errors, so you are right that this should be straightforward, which is why a bit more detail might help....

Re: Data Validation Error Not Stopping Submission

I'm submitting via rules to a SharePoint form library. The validation in places states that if a certain text box is greater than a certain value, then the data is invalid. The rule logic works, it will prompt will the data is incorrect and show the dashed border, but doesn't stop the submit. I think as a workaround I am just going to put rules on the submit button that do the same thing but stop processing if the value is too large.

I know this has worked before, that's why this was so confusing to me because I don't think I have done anything different. Thanks for your reply!
