Showing sections based off of users information

    Hey everybody,

I just started using Infopath 2 weeks ago. I am having trouble with one part of my form I am creating. What I want it to do is when you enter a users name into field1 it finds the name on a sharepoint list and the "Access" they have attatched to it. I already have SP linked up and grabbing the user and putting their access into a drop down list for now. Idealy it would give you a yes/no question (option buttons?) asking if you "want to keep access to 'access name from SP list'?" and the answer would go back to the SP list. To ask the questions I want it to display all the Access question sections at once, which is an unknown ammount of sections.

Here is a sketch of what the SP list looks like and where i am pulling the data from:

    User         | Access          |answer
    bob            12
    bob            13
    bob            14
    dave           13
    kelly           12
    kelly           14

    Hi,

What version of InfoPath and SharePoint are you using?  2007 or 2010?

InfoPath does support a great feature called "User Roles" which might be easier to use to manage what you want to do. (see this article: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/infopath-help/about-specifying-user-roles-for-forms-HP001106605.aspx)

Managing this in a SharePoint list seems more complex than it needs to be!

Actually i think we have 2003 IP and 2007 SP. not quite sure but that like you posted says it works on 2003. I will give it a try tomorrow.
