How to increase the number of entries shown in a drop-down control field.

It looks like you can only show (by default) 100 entries in a drop-down list.  I am pulling in data from a secondary data source that probably contains 400 or 500 items, but I can only see the first 100.  Is there a way to change the number of entries that are allowed/shown in the field?  I cannot find one...  Any help would be appreciated.  - Jeff

Are the items in your list in a SharePoint library?

If so changing the library's default views item limit from 100 to what ever you need it to be should fix it.

If you are not using a SharePoint library there may be a setting in the database that you are receiving the data from that limits the size of the list.

Thanks for your response.  The data is in a Sharepoint List.  The List Settings for the "All Items" view is set to "Show all items."  I cannot find any other setting for the list that controls the number of items displayed.  It seems to be a limitation or setting in the form, but I cannot find one and I see from other users' posts that they are able to see more items in their drop-downs.  Not sure where else to check... - thx Jeff

    Try this:

Open the library, click on your view drop down option and click on "modify this view"

You should now be to a "Edit View: library name" screen.

Scroll down to the "Item Limit" option and expand it.

    You should see:

      Number of items to display:

Display items in batches of the specified size.
Limit the total number of items returned to the specified amount.

Change the "Number of items to display" to what ever you want and click "OK" to close the screen.

From what I understand this should now allow your dropdown list to display up to the number of items that you put in the text box.

Let me know if this worked or not.

How do you increase the number of entries/items in a dropdown menu? I’ve a “Inventory Items” list that has the data and another list “Inventory ordering” with a look up column. This lookup column is fed by the “Inventory Items” lists. The look up column displays the items only when the number of items in the “Inventory Item” list is <= 20.  I tried changing the Item limit of “Inventory Item”  list to 100, but still the new item page of  “Inventory ordering” displays “error on page” when the number of items in “Inventory Items” list  exceed 20.
