Saving InfoPath template on a SharePoint 3.0 - Please help!

      Normal 0 21 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;}

    Hello everybody,

I'd be really grateful if somebody could help.

I did create an InfoPath template so that different persons can fill in information and I have uploaded it on a SharePoint site - in a folder (the folder is in a Document Library). This template should also be available in other folders in four different document libraries (being part of one and the same section of a SharePoint site).

The problem is that when I want to save it after filling it, the form always requires me to show where. How can I determine a path so that the template would be saved without the need to specify myself (or the people who will use it) where every time when they are saving after filling? The problem is that a lot of people will fill this form and some of them may save the filled form in the wrong place. So my idea is – after filling the form, just clicking “save” and that’s it!

Thank you very much in advance!

    Hello,

you can use the save button in your form to specify the location where you want the forms to be submitted/placed once they're completed. check the link below, it has some steps you can use. if it's still unclear, you can always reach out again.

    hope that helps.

     Hello,

thank yo very much for your quick reply!

If I click the save button on my form, it asks me to specify the location every time when I click this button. I have clicked on the link but in my Publishing Wizard, I don't have such an option To a SharePoint server with or without InfoPath Forms Services. I have only an option to import to a SharePoint form library. But I want to import it in a document library ....

    1. On the File menu, click Publish.
    2. In the Publishing Wizard, click To a SharePoint server with or without InfoPath Forms Services, and then click Next.

    Could you please help again?

     Thank you!

create a data connection(submit) on your form, that will basically submit your form the the document library. to create data connections.

go to tools -> data connections -> add-> submit data -> to a document library on a sharepoint site -> specify your document library

and give the name by which this form needs to be saved. (you will need to use some function/formula that generates unique name for each form). -> next -> finish.

go to tools -> submit options -> check allow users to submit this form.

select sharepoint document library from the drop down and select your connection name from data connection dropdown.

now drag a button on your form and make it submit button.

    to do so

drag the button on to the form -> right click and go to properties of the button and change Action type to submit.

now when users click this button, it will get saved to the location you want..

Thank you very much for your reply ,Qazi!

I will try - could you please tell me more regarding the function/formula that generates uni`ue name for each form?

Also, I have the following problem - while trying to create such a form on the SharePoint itself (it seems to me that this is not possible at a folder level within a document library - only at a list level) I must have changed some very basic options (I have been given full control access) and now my Sharepoint looks so fifferent - for example - the site actions button now seems to offer much more detailed options, and not as prviously 3 - create, edit page and site settings- (for example, I am not able to see under look and feel the top link bar and the quick launch), while others are gone .... I remember clicking activate/desactivate but I do not remember where ....

Would be really grateful if you reply.

     Thank you!
