Create infopath form with lookup functionality to Sharepoint list help?

Hello all, Im quite new to infpath and Sharepoint and this forum :)  I ran into some problem to have have my infopath form working with sharepoint. I made an infopath form and I need to fill in a CustomerID (textfield with rules) after that I want that it lookup the adress, street ect. from a sharepoint list. Im already have it work partially when I fill in the CustomerID it looks up always the first records (adress, street, etc) of the sharepointlist but not the actual data of the CustomerID filled in the infopath form. I already tried alot but still it won't work.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks!!

Do you have a Tools->Data Connection Retrieve data SharePoint List set up?

Is it pulling all of the data into your form? If so, you just need to filter correctly using the right rules. Cascading dropdowns and repeating tables need preceding-sibling xpath functionality to work correctly. Check out Greg Collins blog on setting the axis correctly - that may be related.

If you aren't gettting the data into the form, it's likely a SharePoint default view problem. Check to make sure all records show up when you navigate to the SharePoint list. If not, you'll need to unrestrict the view to show all records.

If you have >1000 list items in your view, performance will suffer and you may need to put a Web Service on the ShP box to filter in a performant way. We provide a free trial of our WSSP service that does this.

    Hope these ideas help!

You need to properly filter based on the CustomerID in you form, and those selections must exactly match what is in the SharePoint list so that the filter works.

Re: Create infopath form with lookup functionality to Sharepoint list help?

    Thanks for your answer!

I have setup a working dataconnection to my sharepoint list with the corresponding fields like CustomerID, adress, etc. And it is pulling data to the form since it always fills in the first data of the sharepoint list if a CustomerID is chosen. (without a filter configured) Also I setup rules with the following condition to the CustomerID field in infopath: if CustomerID (infopath) equals CustomerID (sharepoint) then an action follows. The action I configured is like this; I choose "setup the value of an field" then I select for field = Adress (infopath) and for value I set the following filter: @Adress[@CustomerID = customerID]  So now when I fill in a customerID in infopath I want the adress field automaticly filled in based on the CustomerID within sharepoint and corresponding adress. Unfortunatly nothing happend when I do this.

    Do I something wrong here?

Something is just off - can't tell without seeing the XSN and the exact data.  The syntax of the CustomerID has to be exact for the filter to work.

Make sure on the "set a field's value" that you're first choosing the destination field and THEN for value choose the sharepoint list secondary data connection node for address and filter on CustomerID.  If you set it up right and the CustomerIDs are a 100% match, then it will work as long as the address field for that record has data.

Check out this Filtered List Lookup Web Service - it does what you want and so much more!
