    An exception occurred submitting the document: Exception from HRESULT: 0x8004303B

    Hi,

    I have worked through the "How to create a button that saves to DBXL but does not close the form" post at  http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/miscellaneous/entry49724.aspx.

    I don't want to have a button for this save (it will confuse the users.)  I am calling the code from an on changed event.  (The field is changed manually - not on form open (I have already fallen into that trap!))

    The code is being called but I get the exception shown in the title.  Can anyone help ?

    Thank you.

    Hi, Catharine:

    It shouldn't matter if this code runs from a field's changed event or a button. What line do you get the exception on? I'm assuming in the DbxlSubmit class....probably in the submit method, since your error message starts with "An exception occurred submitting the document..." Did you add the compiled .dll to your form, or did you add the class as source code?

    Hi Catharine,

    I tested the code provided in this forum post "http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/miscellaneous/entry49724.aspx", and ran into the same error as you got. I debugged and found that the xpath expression in GetDataSourceDefinition() method located in DbxlSubmit.cs class is incorrect. I modified the xpath expression and ran the test again - it works fine for me.

    Can you please replace the GetDataSourceDefinition() method in DbxlSubmit.cs with the below one?

    private static XPathNavigator GetDataSourceDefinition(XmlFormHostItem formHost, string dataConnectionName)

    {

    XPathNavigator manifest = formHost.Template.Manifest;

    string xPath = "/xsf:xDocumentClass/xsf:submit/xsf:webServiceAdapter[@name='" + dataConnectionName + "']";

    XPathNavigator def = manifest.SelectSingleNode(xPath, formHost.NamespaceManager);return def;

    }

    Please let me know how it works for you.

    Good Luck!

    Thank you for your replies.

    My form already had VB code attached to it, so I added the compiled dll to the project.

    The error I show is what is returned from the dll - so don't know exactly where it comes.

    Would you be able to provide a corrected dll so I don't have to convert the code provided ? - That could lead to additional erros :)

    I uploaded the modified dll - can you please grab it from this forum post? - http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/miscellaneous/entry49724.aspx.

    Let me know how it works for you.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

     Thank you.

    I have grabbed that new dll - date modified 01/05/2010 02:22.  And I am afraid I still get the same error An exception occurred submitting the document: Exception from HRESULT: 0x8004303B.

    Any other ideas ?

    Hi, Catharine:

    I've been getting this error for the past 1/2 an hour on a form where I was working on some code that submitted to a SharePoint list using a form data connection. The form connection is a Submit data connection, and I was calling it in some button code. Long story short, I get this error if my form has any validation errors before calling the data connection. I used Me.Errors.DeleteAll() immediately prior to calling my submit data connection and the error stopped.

    Not certain if this will be helpful to you -- but perhaps try deleting any form errors prior to calling the code dll, just to see....
