I am getting an error after I saved my form -

he form definition (.xsf) file cannot be opened because of an error.
The file cannot be validated by the XML Schema.

The keyref 'ruleSet_5' does not resolve to a key for the Identity Constraint 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2003/solutionDefinition}ruleset_name_key'.

Now I can't open it in Design Mode Any Longer

Did you manually edit your .xsf file or is this happening from just using the InfoPath Designer?

Hi,
Note: Please a make a copy before following the process below.
Open manifest.xsf in notepad and Search for the line which contains "ruleSet_5", delete that line and try opening the form.

If the above thing dint work remove the container XML node of "ruleSet_5". This should work.

Note: Remember it is not advisable to edit InfoPath files manually unless until you are perfect at it.

I actually didn't edit the file manually - All I did was add a Expression box and try to preview. I am not able to extract form files, because the stupid form will not even open in design mode.

Well, that's a problem. :) What's the error?

It is the error i posted above - I ended up reverting back to an earlier version and after bringing it up to speed am ok - is there corruption concerns with infopath files?

We haven't seen corruption issue by just using InfoPath usually. They normally happen when we edit the manifest.xsf manually.

One other option if you have lot of changes that you don't want to lose is to uncab the xsn file. There are tools available to do this. Once you have uncabbed the xsn you can change the manifest.xsf appropriately and create a cab again.
