    More on filtering repeating tables

I am working on a cell phone request form.  the form has several check boxes that correspond to features that a phone ia capable of.   I also have a list of all the phones that we support and or offer and thier key features as well.   As the form gets filled out and the features get selected I would like to have a repeating table the list all matching phones.

     For example:

    • Phone 1 has: email, browser, camera, read pdf, and slide out keyboard
    • Phone 2 has: eamil,browser,camera
    • Phone3 has : Camera,

On the phone if email is check then only phone 1 and 2 should be in the table. If PDF is checked then only phone 1 and if camera is checked then all three.

Does anybody have any thoughts or suggestion on how to do this?

    Hi RomualDT

So you have a taxonomy of features and you want to filter the phones based on that. Qdabra's FormsBoard has this feature built-in and it's very simple to use. You just tag the Phone forms and then you can quickly narrow or expand the entire list by clicking checkboxes. However, you don't use FormsBoard and you want to do it in the forum.

You're going to want to create a secondary XML file that contains all of your phone data. Then add rules to your phone section in your form that hide it if a feature is selected and that phone doesn't have it. You're secondary XML file is added to your form template as a data connection (XML file). You use this to display the phones in your form. You have to add rules to the repeating phone section in your view to conditionally hide the section if the feature is not blank and the phone's feature field doesn't have it. Easy to do but may be a little tricky to set up the secondary XML and rules.

    Good luck!
