InfoPath Dev

I have an infopath form with a Country drop down list that is retreiving its data from a sharepoint "Countries" list.
How do I set the default value of the country to "United States"?

I've tried creating a rule that sets a field value (ddlCountry) associated with the dropdown to "United States" text. But that doesn't work.

Well, sounds like you are doing the right thing, but maybe the dropdown is not configured to have value as ddlCountry and display as different. Maybe the display field is used for both the value and the country string. Worth checking.
