    General Issue (Traffic Size)

    Hi all,

i have a general question. In my company they currently use an Excel Sheet as an order request form which is always sent as an attachment of an email. The size of the document is about 500kb. Now i recreated this document (almost 1 to 1) as an Infopath form which will be integrated into a K2 workflow. The size of the published Infopath document on the WebServer is about 100kb. When i open the form fill it out and save the size of the form is about 12 - 16kb. I would like to know now what is the actual traffic when sending the infopath document to the next user. Is it really that small, if yes then that is just great cos we can save a huge amount ouf traffic like this. Hope someone gets my problem, don't know how to describe better :(
    Thx anyway.

    Hi nukkumatti,
Total transfer will be around 116kb.Because template with 100kb will get downloaded and your xml file 12- 16kb that you filled will be uploaded. Totally it will come to around 116kb.

If you have already filled the form and trying to open it then it would be around 132kb, another 16 kb for downloading your form.

Thx for reply. Anyway we gonna save a lot especially when i think about that the form as an attachment was sent there an back a servral times if it wasn't filled out correctly sometimes. When thinking about of at least 100 of these emails it is even more worth it.

Wouldn't it only be 100kb one time though? The user receiving the form only has to download the template if there has been a revision. So, whenever you publish a new version of the form your bandwidth usage will be 116kb each time a user opens the new form and downloads the new template, but after everyone has the new template they don't have to download it again do they?

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

Makes sense. But actually I cannot answer you question cos I don't know my self. May be I should check the traffic on the K2.net server running an example process.

Someone else with further knowledge ?

Anyway I am already fine with your replies.
    Thx guys

You are right Matt, but I wanted to give info for the worst case kind of scenario.
But yes, it wont be as less as 16kb because InfoPath needs to check if the local build is the latest build or not.
