Password protected fields in infopath form

    Hi,

In my infopath form i had a dropdown. In which users can change status from closed to open. But,i want only authorized users to do that. So,is there a way to pop up with a password box  before changing that status from closed to open,if given correct password?

have a password field in your form, and show the dropdown only when the password field contains the right password, other wise the field should be hidden.

Hi Qazi,Thanks for replying.I didn't find any password type control in infopath. Is there a way to implement that. Also,i can hide the control using conditional formmating. But,is there a way to show it,becaue there is no option to show it. one more question, can i show a popup form where user can enter password and click OK.WHich returns the control to the changed event with the password string for validation?

    1) I dont think there are password control in infopath. but there might be some cool way round. i hope somebody knows and is willing to share

    2) you can only hide the fields via conditional formatting, once the condition is false the field gets shown, so you dont have to write anything for showing the field, just make the condition false.

    3) you cannot use popup's in browser enabled forms,

Re: Password protected fields in infopath form

Thanks Qazi. You are amazing in giving solutions.

I am able to set the password .I used Webdings font for that password field.I used a optional section which contains textbox for password and a variable that hides or unhides optional section.

If ddl status is Closed,i am setting that variable to true using code in form load.Added a conditional formatting for the optional section as if variable = false hide the section.

Added conditional formatting for Dropdownlist as,if variable=false and passwordtext not equal to <expexted password> disabel that control.

    Solved my problem.

Also i am clearing thse variable and passwordtext to empty once the status is changed to open in dropdownlist_changed event.

    Thanks.
