    user roles problem

I have a problem with user roles. In fact I don't know what to write to User Names or User Groups. I use my infopath form in a sharepoint site. What should I write to User Names or User Groups. Is it the username for sharepoint site or is it the name in my network or anything else?
The thing I want is that: when a user of my intranet(sharepoint site like www.xxx.com) want to fill this form, according to his user group(employee or manager) one view of my form is opened.

    Thanks u all.

    Hi Oguz,
It should be the network id.

InfoPath always picks up logged in userid.
Sharepoint username is for the sharepoint to recognize you as a user on the sharepoint.

So when working with InfoPath always consider logged in userid i.e, network id.

But still it gives error when I try to open it to fill from my sharepoint site. I only add a user role. No conditional formatting or anything else like that, but it gives an eror message about permissions when I try to open the form to fill.

What is the error message that you are getting?
Where did you add the User roles in sharepoint or in your InfoPath form?

    Hi,
when adding new user roles I try to get a selection list for "User Names" or "User Group Names" by pressing the appropriate button. But after pressing the button I always get the following error "The program is unable to open the dialog field, because no paths have been found ...". I am using Win XP SP2,
IP SP1. How can I solve this problem ?

Hi Oguz, After a long time :)
Is your machine in the network?
Can you try the third option "UserNames in the form" and see if that works?

    yes after a long time:)
My machine is not in the network, but after the system is ok, it is used on the network. How can I use the third option? My aim is that when a sharepoint user opens the form, he will see only entries which is about him.

Third option basically looks for usernames listed in the form. For ex: You have a list of users in your form and want to give permision to those people then you can select the field where the user name is set in the third option.

I think regarding the network I think it needs your machine to be there in network because it has to look for users in the domain.

    Thanks Agni,
I want to ask you that '"Should the 'user names' on 'user roles' be network names?" or can they be "sharepoint user names". In my system users can reach the sharepoint sites from their home and there is no network, only himself, so is there a way to identify him and open the form according to the user?

'User names' on 'User roles' use network names. They do not use Sharepoint usernames. Infopath takes the loggedin user names not the username with which he is recognised in sharepoint.

Ok, is "being connected to a domain" a must to use user roles in infopath. Is there a way to determine a user role for a user that is not in network?

Yes, you can set values that are hardcoded to local users.

    Hi Oguz,
UserNames and UserGroups use network names.
For example:I set the UserNames and UserGroups in my organization's Active Directory Service.
So based on this,I change the views when I open the form.
Hope this is what u want to know.
    Regards,
    Abhishek
