Getting our Form to the outside world

    Hi,

I am developing a form for a company who operate outside of my own company's network and Intranet.

We have a MOSS 2007 server, however this server is not visible to anyone outside of our network, and we have our own webserver that currently hosts numerous company sites. These two servers can see each other. Our webserver does not currently have Sharepoint, and indeed Infopath Forms Services installed on it.

Now, is it possible for me to get my Infopath form hosted on the webserver so people outside of our network can access it over the interweb? If so, does it require me installing Sharepoint and Infopath Forms Services on the webserver, or will it work if I use something like an XMLformview control? Basically, we're not going to be turning our sharepoint server public for some time yet, so we don't want to be paying the "large" sum of money required to do that, just for a form.

I hope this makes sense to people, as I have read numerous articles about this and even have a couple of books and I'm still left uncertain about how this is done, if it can be done.

    Thanks

Re: Getting our Form to the outside world

I think my confusion has come about by reading a several articles that refer to "Publishing a template to a Sharepoint or Forms Services site". However, having looked further into this, it seems, by this they mean, Publishing to a Sharepoint site which may or may not be running Forms Services. So if the Sharpeoint Site doesn't have forms services running you can only use Infopath client to open the form, if it does have form services it can be viewed in a browser. As such, if you publish to a sharepoint site, only people who have access to that site can view the form, therefore, this will not resolve my issue. Can someone please confirm?

As such, I am looking at getting trying to create a page on one of our public facing sites with an XMLformview control, that will contact our sharepoint site (our webserver can view our sharepoint sites) and then make the form available to the outside world. In theory, this seems like it should work. Practice is something different altogether. I will be working on this, but if anyone has advice, or a piece of glaringly obvious information that I'm overlooking, then please, please, please let me know.

    Thanks
