    How would i do this?

Im creating an infopath version of our car parking request form.

A staff member enters his details and im using a repeating table to allow them to add the visitor(s) and their details. (so will be 1 or more visitors entered per request)

in the library im showing a count of the total visitors in a column.

when this request is authorised via a yes/no option by the relevant dept, an email is sent to the originator of the request with the allocated spaces for each visitor.

it is this last bit i dont know how to do. where do i cater for the authorising dept to add the spaces allocated for each visitor?

currently they would 'edit properties' of form in library to tick request has been authorised, but additional to this they need to allocate a parking space for each visitor on the form.

ideally i then want to send the details of these spaces within the email that goes out to the originator of the request. ie visitor 1 - space 1, visitor 2 - space7, etc

    is this possible?

    Hi,

Well one thing you could do would be to add these fields for the spaces into the form and then add a view in the form that is editable only by the person (or persons) who are allowed to authorise and assign the spaces.  Once that user authorises and assigns the spaces in InfoPath you could have an email sent to the user directly.

If you want to do this in SharePoint only with no user opening InfoPath then you are going to need to add some SharePoint workflow to automate this but depending upon how the users assign the spaces that may not work as it may be possible that the space # has to be assigned by a human process rather than an automated process?

    Hope that helps

so these users are opening the form in the sharepoint library and re-submitting after updating the allocated spaces?

what did you mean by views? i havent used these

when u open an infopath form in a design view,u have a tool pane on the right hand, there u can find Views tab. You can create new view by clicking on the button below, and then you can copy paste ur original infopath form and make changes whatever u wish. You can switch views from one to other on a button click or something, that option you can find in rules.I hope this will solve your query..
