    Can This Be Done?

Does InfoPath have the functionality to do the following: Bsckground: Using Office 2003 and InfoPath 2003 Form will be used by multiple people to collect data on hundreds of people during interviewing them. End Use of data collected - determine best candidates by data they provided to allow them in a program. First Question on Functionality: Form has 5 sections ranging from basic info about person to gathering data about some historical activities they may or may not have done + other sections. This form will have three purposes if you will - example 1. first - pre interview - will be used by prep people to get as much info on interviewees as possible Sections 1,2,3 2. second - will be used during interview to record data from interview questions Sections 3 (hide section 1,2 won't need to see during interview) 3. third - will be used post interview to add interviewers notes/impressions etc. Sections, 1,2,3,4,5 (unhide 1,2, add two new sections 4&5) Hope this is making sense - Second Question on Funtionality: If there will be three people interviewing the same person but each of their notes for Section 3 will differ slightly because of the lens they are looking through. Can I create these sections in the interviewees form so that I can cut and paste from interviewer #1, interviewer #2, and interviewer #3 section 3 content into a master form or one of their forms to combine the data into one location? we are using sharepoint 2007 but if I was not sure whether sharepoint would make this any easier or possible. Interviewees need a form to use as guidance as the training will be limited at best. Thank you ellenok

    Hi:

You can definitely hide and display sections based on a variety of conditions. For example, you could use User Roles and create some AD groups for your 'prep people', 'interviewers' and so on. The conditionally show or hide sections based on the User Role bound to that group. You can also base conditional formatting off of field values -- perhaps you could add a status field to your form that the different users could change to signify a completed activity.

I think your second question could be addressed using different views -- one view of the form could have expression boxes to display the content from all the notes in the section filled out by the interviewers -- that way you have it on a single page of the form. Or, you could either use a database bound form (that submits to a database) or web services to save data to a database, then use a reporting solution to aggegrate your data.

    Hope that helps!
