Switch views to a certain repeating section

I have a repeating table in one view and a repeating section in another view, that are both bound to the same data source. The repeating table has a button that will switch the view to the repeating section. Is there a way to make the second view only show the section that corresponds to the row where the button was pressed in the repeating table?

    Sure.

In some cases I have added a field in the data source to flag a particular record, or you could modify a field that maybe does not matter.

Another way is to have a field in your form to store the current record ID or unique record data that can be used for the conditional formatting. Then when they return you reset the field.

    Clay,

Regarding the same issue, can you shed some light into why my IP 2003/sql form works most of the times, but doesn't sometimes?

    Basically, I have 3 views.

1 view is the main view and has a query section and a master detail control for the results. The details part has some buttons. One of these buttons submits to the db, adds values into 2 non data source fields that I created called "formview" and "formID", then sends the xml file as an attachment in an email to another user.

The 2nd and 3rd views are basically the same but are filtered so a certain group gets directed to only one of the two views. I do this using the "formview" field during the Open rules which is populated with the value from view 1 during submit.

Both of the 2nd and 3rd views contain 1 repeating section that has a filter using the "formID" I mentioned in view 1. The repeating sections should only display the data for that record which is indicated by "formID".

    Here is the problem.

This works most of the time. The times it doesn't, the 2nd and 3rd views open up but do not display the repeating section at all.  What is displayed is what is outside the repeating section in those views. Basically, a blank view is displayed.

Here is the wierd thing though. I have versions of the same form that work all the time. But I need these to work in newer versions of the xsn file. These newer versions and actually older versions too, randomly seem to bomb out in view 2 and 3.

I really don't know what to make of it at this point.  I thought the practice of what I mentioned above was a pretty simple one, but something is causing this.  I need the forms to be stable and opening up to the view WITH data all the time.

Any ideas to what may be causing this behavior?

If anyone else has any insight it is welcomed.

    Thank you very much.

    Clay or another guru.

I don't know if it is going to be the final fix, but here is what I did.  When a user submits in view 1, the ID and form status is flagged, then the view changes to the correct view, then I have another button that the user has to click again to finally send it. Rather than all of this being done without the view change.

Like I had mentioned the problem was that it would randomly happen that a user who opens the 2 view, the repeating section with the filter wouldn't display anything for that record that was flagged in view 1. I have checked the xml file in textpad and the flagged ID number is clearly visable in the xml file.

And, yes, I have tried creating the form from scratch. The result is the same. Randomly, the data would not show up.

What are you thoughts to my last two posts?

Your thoughts would be really appreciated here as I am shooting in the dark on this one. Thanks.

This is driving me nuts.  Can anyone help me out with some possible reasons why this happens randomly?

Would a person's computer have any impact on the way a form behaives?  I swear that this happens with one individuals computer.

    Anyone?

i'm shooting in the dark here...but would having another application running while someone is using IP 2003 during these submits cause this?  the user is scanning paper into pdfs so she has an application called capture perfect running....I don't what else to think.
