Populating a sharepoint workflow with information from InfoPath

    Hi

I am looking to do a very basic workflow whereby an end user "signs" to say they have received training and the trainer "signs" to say the User has been trained.

Is there any way of taking the data from a text box then populating the approvals workflow in SharePoint?

    Hi mark-scott,

Sorry if i am not able to get you properly, what i could get is that there is a text box in infopath form, on whose value you want to start a work flow, if that is the case use property promotion.

You can't dynamically populate OOTB workflows, but you could very easily make your own approval workflow in SharePoint Designer 2007.  Just promote the fields of your form to the form library during the publish process, and then use the SPD workflow to notify the relevant parties at the correct time.

In your form, use conditional formatting to show/hide buttons that should only be pushed by the proper person.  You can gather and compare the current user's identity by using the methods in my blog:
