Drop downs do not have OnClick handlers. You will need to use the OnAfterChange handler.
OnBeforeChange and OnValidate both happen while the DOM is readonly.

position() will probably have no effect in your XPath. I would think that the following should give you the same results:
../@name = current()/my:OptionName
