I would have thought this would be simple enough to do

I have a field called FirstName and one called LastName. which are populated via getUserProfileByName

now I would have thought all I would have to do to put them together would be

concat(FirstName, " ", LastName)

however I get an error saying the xpath contains invalid characters. If I remove the space between the two fields it works fine.

How can I put a space between two fields? I cant believe it isn't possible to do thi.

It's very strange that this would be happening. I have done similar concats before. Does it fail if you try concating other fields, or just these two fields?

I was initially trying to concat the FirstName and LastName from active directory, that threw an error so I added a couple of fields in the form to store the variables and then tried to concatenate the fields

That is a very simple and common method that I often use, so I know it works.  Attach the XSN if you'd like.

My best guesse is you are typing it, you need to select FirstName and last name using "Insert field or Group".

or you are using apostrophe instead of double quotes.

if it is none of these please attach the xsn
