    Rule Inspector Has Processing Error

    Hi,

    I downloaded the MinDate.xsn file from http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/19066/66217.aspx#66217  (it contains a formula to calculate the Minimum date in a repeating table)

    The formula is:  my:group1/my:group2[translate(my:field1, "-T:", "") = xdMath:Min(xdMath:Eval(/descendant-or-self::node()/my:field1[. != ""], 'translate(., "-T:", "")'))]/my:field1

    I created a text field (field4) and copied the XPath formula (above) into field4 as a "Default Value" and prefixed it with ../

    Field4 Default Value:  ../my:group1/my:group2[translate(my:field1, "-T:", "") = xdMath:Min(xdMath:Eval(/descendant-or-self::node()/my:field1[. != ""], 'translate(., "-T:", "")'))]/my:field1

    This seems to work, but when I open the Rule Inspector, it says "Processing error" and won't display my formula under the "Calculated Default Values" heading.

    Is there something wrong with the formula?  Can it be written in a different way so that it will still display in the Rule Inspector?

     Thanks

    Re: Rule Inspector Has Processing Error

    I just tried this on a brand new InfoPath form template and got the same "processing error" in the Rule Inspector.

    As Patrick replied on one post: "I saw this in InfoPath 2010 about 3 months ago and I thought it was a bug. At any rate, I think you can safely ignore it since the form should work fine. The Logic Inspector is just a read-only add-on. Somehow, it's failing to process the XSF. Probably a bug in the XSLT transform that the Logic Inspector uses to display the rules. Not a worry from me nor from you... :)"

    Actually it is a worry for me. Since I have forms that contain hundreds of complex rules & default values, I use the "Rules Inspector" to create a pdf of all the form rules.

    I then use this pdf to check all my rules are correct and as a reference when creating similar rules on other forms.

    It's a lot easier to see all the rules in one place rather than clicking on a million fields.

    I suppose if you were only doing simple forms with a small number of rules, it probably wouldn't matter much.
