    Connecting to Access Database

I have created a form which queries an Access Database. The form is accessed via Sharepoint. The MS Access database is on a 'common' shared folder. I have some users who can run the query to retrieve the information and others who are getting an error message: The first pop up box says "Please Enter MS JET OLE DB Initialization Information" with the following boxes to fill in: Data Source: data source is filled in here User Name: 'Admin' is filled in here Password: this is blank Provider String: this is blank Open Mode: DB_MODE_READWRITE The second box which comes up if you 'click through', i.e. hit 'OK'....has the following information: The query method on the Document object failed. InfoPath cannot run the specified query. InfoPath cannot connect to the data source. The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '\\****.***.com\******\*****\Common\CES_Permission_Tracking\ces_permissions.mdb'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data. I have verified that the user's domain is working correctly. I have verified that the user can access the database and see the data directly. The database is stored on a 'common' / 'shared' drive which the user has access to and can access directly. I have set up the data connection with the direct path to the drive/folder location and not a mapped drive. I am at a loss for how to resolve this. The users who are having issues seem to be in one specific site but they can all access the drive and data directly.

OK...here is what I have found out....and I am updating this so that users in the future might be able to use it to help resolve their issues. The permissions on the folder/directory where the database is located needs to have Modify access for all users who are accessing the data via the form. My issue with some users getting the data and some not getting the data, but getting an error message was because some users inherited Modify access from the folder above the one I had created while others were added to a LAN group which had 'Read' access only. I was confused because all of the users were added to the LAN Group with Read access, but the users who inherited the Modify access over rode the Read access. Once I changed the LAN group to have Modify access, all users were able to retrieve the data by running the query and no longer received the error message. The query / connection must be using an administrator or defaults to a Modify user and therefore was having an issue retrieving the data. I also tested this by having a user who could retrieve the data modify a text file I had stored on the directory (which she could do with no problem) and then I had another user who was getting the error message try to modify the same text file and got an error message that the file was read only. So, giving users Modify access to the database location solved the problem.
