Using an InfoPath form to search and retrieve records in a SharePoint list

Sorry if this has been posted before but I haven't really seen exactly what I've been looking for in terms of this question.

I have an InfoPath form connected to a SharePoint contact list of lawyers with fields of (Company, Title, Specialty, First name and Last name).  In that form I set up a dd list for Company, Title and Specialty which correctly is fed from the corresponding fields in the SP list.  The First and Last name fields on the IP form are generic enterable text boxes.

My problem is that I am trying to have the user either search on any of the fields (or multiple fields) to retrieve the corresponding record/records from the SP list.  For example, if they want to search for all the lawyers who specialized in international law and are attorneys, they would select the int'l law entry in the specialty drop down and the attorney entry in the title drop down and click on a submit button and receive a list of records that are filtered on those requirements.  Also they would be able to type in a first or last name, etc in the text field to achieve the same end.

Is there anyway that IP has something built in to do this type of record retrieval off a SP list?

    Thanks

Is this something that the database accelerator dropdown on this site could handle?

    Hi, Steve:

Actually, you could use Database Accelerator to create filtered SharePoint queries in your form. The free trial download is available here. I encourage you to give it a spin and post to the DBXL forums on this site if you have questions...

Thanks for the reply Hilary.  I am a developer with only admin rights to my local machine, is this going to be an issue if I cannot install anything on the server.  ie) is this download simply a local install that should talk to the MOSS regardless?  Thanks.

For development and proof of concept you'd be fine running locally, but to use it with your deployed form, you'd probably want to put it on a server -- form users would need access to the web service....
